This is a blog about a 57 year old (unfit) man cycling to the Lebanon. Or at least that is the intention.
The idea originates from when a friend invited my wife (Sally) and I to visit her for a holiday and I did not want to fly. So I decided to go by bike and meet them there. That was two months ago and I have been gradually accumulating equipment for the trip. One catch is that I need to arrive by April 6th so it means some cold weather trekking across Europe. Departure day has been set at 14th February - suitably romantic - so I am currently in the planning and accumulation stage.
My early bible has been the book by Stephen Lord: http://www.adventurecycle-touringhandbook.com/plus many other useful websites such as http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/activityandadventure/the-bicycle-diaries/to keep me motivated.
Most equipment has been bought on Ebay. So far I have:
Dawes Super Galaxy bike plus panniers, and various layers of cycling clothing. But Christmas is coming so hopefully I will be able to cross more things off my packing list.
