The Quiz

For those of you who are in to these things, there will be a quiz. The prize will be something nice from the Lebanon. There are no rules, you may cheat, confer or even use the internet to find the answers. But if you are too horrid then I am not coming back. Just store your answers and I will mark them sometime near the end of my trip. Note that the questions are not in travelling order. Bear with me if this technology does not work first time. I will sort it out:

Question 1: Who was born in Le Cateau Cambresis?

As a clarification following Mick's comment. One mark for the famous person, plus an extra half mark for naming everyone who was ever born there.

Question 2: From one village to another at just aged 19.  In which was he laid to rest?

Question 3: Name the Abbey in the distance (the place where it is located)

Question 4: Which was the only country to occupy the Schloss Wildenstein in the 17th Century when they  accidentally left the doors open

Question 5: How much was a "Kings Ransom" as paid to free Richard the Lion Heart as a hostage from Austria? Apparently the money went to build a protective gate outside of Vienna to keep the Mongols out, so I guess it wasn´t so bad. A bit like Nato members in recent times paying a bit more if they were well away from the action.

Question 6:  Beginners Serbo-Croat.

Translate these well known sports names from the UK and USA taken from the Serbian Blik newspaper into recognisable English:

Vejn Runi
Sarlot v Klivlend

Question 7:  Continuing with the 'Learn Serbo-Croat' theme what activity is this shop below involved in. I love this language, it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Question 8: Since you have found Serbo-Croat so easy, this one should be a doddle. Which town have I just left? Latin alphabet please.

Question 9: (Sorry about the delay). So I will make it easy. Any ideas about the name of the abbey in the distance? Note the nicer weather.

Question 10: What are these buildings used for (before, not now - now they are houses):

That's It. 10 Easy Questions. Send your answers, hunches or desperate guesses to Saddleman at martintravel@ntlworld.com. A beautiful Lebanese prize awaits. I reckon the winner will need to get 2 out of 10 right. Closing date for entries May 5th, 2010 unless none have been received, in which case first past the post thereafter.
