Water? Sport

Australia keeps moving its lakes. I am sure that they have a limited number and so move them around now and then to deceive the tourist.

You may decide on a lovely place to stop for lunch, perhaps 20 or 30 kms down the road next to the beautiful blue lake that is shown on the map. But there is no guarantee that it will be around when you get there.
A proper lake
Lake George is supposed to be on the road into Canberra. For it might just as well be on the road as it was dry as a bone when we passed. There were cattle grazing out in the middle.

An ex-lake
On the other hand, others spring up where least expected. The numerous dead trees protruding across the surface of some suggest that they we not ready for it, so maybe it’s not just a naïve tourist thing.

A surprise lake
But if you don’t find the one you are looking for have then just head on to the next possibility. Maybe that’s why so many of the 4WD trucks we’ve seen pulling motor boat trailers display Queensland licence plates. Such a long way from home. They probably just headed out for a pleasant afternoon of water skiing and kept going until they found water.
