Home from Home 2

Two other alien species brought over by immigrants from the UK that have adapted to the local environment were, what has now become the All-Day-Breakfast, and the Meat Pie. The latter was introduced way back in the mid 19th Century and it seems soon escaped out of the kitchen into the wild. So you now find it in every café and bakery across the nation, often completely pushing out native dishes, such as roast Moa.

And like any favourite import they have improved on it. That said, more recently national TV chefs have tried to limit its incursion by persuading the population to try local healthy options, for instance those containing ‘smashed’  avocado. But it seems, the meat pie is well entrenched and has adapted to the local environment with new varieties like curried chicken. Sure, there may be ‘pie free’ zones in high-class restaurants but surely that’s just for the upper crust.

The imported meat pie has established itself all over the country
