Sequential Thinking - Auckland

I had my day off today. The chance to sit in a coffee shop and update my blog, write a few post cards, stuff like that. Meanwhile Sally and Sue went into Auckland to do ‘stuff’.

I didn’t get much done over my coffee and muffin but that’s not the point. What did happen is that it offered a chance to collect my thoughts. I’ve noticed that I am not blogging so much this time compared with my cycle trips. That’s because, with Sally around my head doesn’t get the chance to empty. We are constantly considering what to do next; it's different from normal as while on my bike I just pedal. So now there is no time or space in my head to then collect some thoughts worth writing about.

Unfortunately, one morning alone was not enough to get the process rolling but it’s a start. It was not helped by the male assistant at the craft-bakery-cum-coffee-shop. It took me ages to decide on a decaff-Americano with hot milk on the side and a raspberry muffin, without butter, which yes, I would like heated. I felt chuffed at the progressed made.

Then he asked “would I like one of our artisanal breads to take home?” I had to point out that I was a man. I make just one decision at a time and he had already used up my full allotment for the morning. He should have known: he was filling my head with all this extra stuff to think about – French stick or crusty farmhouse? No wonder I didn’t get to add much to my blog.
