It was, as I've indicated, a beautiful hotel set in an old convent. Every arriving guest must decide to freshen up first and then saunter down in the early sun to the balustraded-patio to drink a glass of cold white wine, unwind and take in the breathtaking view over the valley. So that's what we did. The price of the hotel room was very reasonable but this, it turned out, was where they recouped their costs. The old lost leader strategy. It's rather like the credit card advertisement: 'Hotel room: 60 Euros, breakfast: no charge, two glasses of wine with incomparable view, absolutely unaffordable'. Gotchya.
