The Abbey de Fontenay, just outside Montbard, has been a world heritage site for many years, due to its well preserved mediaeval structure and fine architecture. It was bought by the Montgolfier family in 1806 - the ones who made the first balloon flight over Paris. They turned the Abbey into a paper making factory - presumably it was this technology that got them up into the clouds.
They seemed to have survived the intervening French Revolution, perhaps because they were industrialists rather than aristocracy. I add all this to try to make the blog sound a bit more erudite. Of course, it could all be just a tissue of lies.
