I’ve Been Everywhere Man – Tonnerre

You think that you have done a lot, and then you meet someone who puts your exploits in the shade. The Dutch couple in Tonnerre were approaching their seventies but they still cycled. They had been all over: Santiago de la Compostela in Spain, starting from Holland, Madrid to Burgos, Naples to Sicily, Malawi, down the coast of California – just to name a few of their trips.

But even more impressive was that he had done the Paris-Brest Radonneur - four times and it’s only held every four years. That’s 1200 kms in 72 hours with just 8 hours sleep in the three days – cycling through the night. His feats encouraged me to do more, especially a trip to Spain. But not the Radonneur.
