Going Dutch - Cluny, Sept 16th

I met a great Dutch couple at the campsite in Cluny. Both retired teachers. They gave me dinner after I moseyed across to drink my beer with them. Our conversation ranged over many subjects and I left realising that you can feel just as comfortable talking with someone from another country as you can with your own. So belonging to the same group isn't as strong as sharing the same positive views. The conversation was life affirming. When there is so much in the News that suggests we are pulling ourselves apart you realise that we have an awful lot of shared values that never get voiced.

It was a great evening and they gave me dinner - wouldn't let me contribute anything. So in the end we didn't go Dutch after all.
